Why did you choose Webbs Kitchens?
My parents had a Webbs Kitchen fitted about 35 years ago and that lasted really well. When we mentioned where we were getting it from, people said it would be expensive but comparatively to similar firms round Kendal it wasn’t so we’re pleased. We did look at a couple of other firms within Kendal and then we went to Webbs.
The main reason was Alex really and his designs, because there were a couple of firms that said, oh well bring his design and we’ll quote work round it, but thats not the way to work.
How was the design process?
We said to Alex what we would like to be incorporated into the kitchen, like an island and the seating area because we had a seating area like this in our original kitchen. And the doors and windows which used to be part of the garage looking out on the patio, I thought they would look good with mirrors in, rather than just putting in shelves.
Alex then worked on that really and came up with the design including the back mirror and these bits. He did 10 designs and it was just his enthusiasm for it all was quite infectious – he showed us the 10 and we picked one of them, which was the one he wanted us to pick!
How did you choose your appliances?
When it came to the appliances, we had Neff in our original kitchen, which is the only other one we’ve ever had and that lasted 30 odd years so we just thought it must be a decent brand so we went with them.
Lynn wanted a Quooker tap as soon as she saw it – it’s the best thing ever, and the dishwasher, I’ve never had a dishwasher, never thought I’d want a dishwasher, I’d say that it’s probably one of my best things in the kitchen.
Were there any issues along the way?
I don’t think we had any issues, I think there was a couple of snagging things, when we got in touch with Webbs which got sorted almost straight away. The installation, I mean, Brian who fits them, I was amazed, I disappeared to go to work one day, came back and all the back wall was fitted up with all the units and everything, it just progressed really quickly. So for us, I thought it was really efficient.
I converted a barn a few years ago, Brian did the installation of the Webbs Kitchen there so that’s why I asked specifically for him so it was good that we got him.
What is your favourite part of the kitchen?
For me I think its probably the dishwasher second, the Quooker tap first – Yes, same with the Quooker tap and the coffee machine which is what I really wanted.
So with the Quooker tap, we’d actually seen it in some friends kitchen that had been fitted by Webbs and actually we had them in a workplace that I worked at, they are really efficient because you are not boiling the kettle all the time.
Pricewise, it was expensive but the time is saves now when you say, does anyone want a drink, it’s literally a couple of seconds and its done, so, brilliant.
Would you recommend Webbs Kitchens?
We certainly would recommend Webbs Kitchens. From the beginning to the end, from going in with what you want, being able to discuss it, having the drawing spec done, we were able to change things as we went along, it wasn’t an issue, it wasn’t ‘oh no, I’ve done that, now you can’t change anything.
And then going through the installation process, again it was very uncomplicated wasn’t it? Yeah, any questions we had were answered professionally and if Alex didn’t know, he would ask and come back to us, so we would definitely recommend.

Steve and Anne bought their first kitchen from us back in 1983, a kitchen which stood the test of time. Seeking something more modern, after a chance meeting with their neighbour they got in touch with us again to see if we would be able to replace it. Using the same plans from 1983, Ben created a modern take on the old design, the results of which Steve and Anne are delighted with.
