Why did you choose Webbs Kitchens?
The kitchen was the last part of the house that I was having refurbished and I wanted it to be right because it’s the place you spend the most time and it’s the most important part of the house. I went to three different places for a quote, I wasn’t going to go word of mouth, I wanted to make my own mind up, I wanted the visits and I wanted to see what the offer was, what they came up with.
The first people that came were very nice. Lovely showroom. Took photographs. She was here about 15 minutes, she didn’t listen to what I wanted. I wanted everything to be changed, everything new. ‘No, your fridge freezer is fine, you can keep that’, I said ‘no, it’s too big for the kitchen’. So, she went away, sent an estimate and it was nothing that I wanted.
The second one I went to, he was lovely. He came out, he said, ‘oh, you’ve got your washer in your kitchen, we’re going to put it in the front room, we’ll block off under the stairs and you can have it there’, well I was mortified. However I went to have a look at the design and it was very good. It wasn’t cheap but the price didn’t include my fridge freezer or my cooker which is what I wanted to change. And I just didn’t want my under the stairs blocking in to put a washer in, I didn’t want my washer in the front room. The plan as well, when we saw the plan it was only laid out, there were no photographs.
So, then I went to Webbs. I think it was a Saturday I went in and it was Erin that I saw, and she said oh yes, we’ll come out next week. Jonny came out, he was really good, really sociable. He was here for a while, took photographs and he said we’ll be coming back and you’ll come in and you’ll be in two or three times, that impressed me. I also wanted a fridge freezer that had water and ice where as I had an American one which was too big and I wanted a single one. I was told by the other companies, the other people I went to you can’t do that, you can only have a side by side fridge freezer. When I went to Erin, and she said ‘you can we’ll get one for you’. Erin sent the design though, I went in, I wasn’t led by her, I told her what I wanted but her ideas were brilliant and that is why I chose Webbs.
How was the design process?
Regarding the design process Erin was the one that I saw and I was in and out of the shop two or three times. She listened to me, I said I wanted white. I wasn’t going to have the glass that I’ve got now, I was going to have what is on the worktops all the way around, so she did me some plans which were absolutely brilliant. She found me the fridge freezer that I wanted. She suggested putting the washer in totally different place to where I had it originally, I said ‘you can’t put it there’, she said ‘we can’ and by golly am I glad she did because it’s brilliant.
And then we decided when I went in, lets have a look at the glass because I’d seen glass in one of the other showrooms and I thought it looked really quite nice, so she kept clicking on the computer until she found something that I liked and I said that will do, that will be great and it went in with the worktops as well.
I must have gone in two or three times, she was so patient with me and she kept swapping and changing the designs around and sending them out to me and I was absolutely delighted with what she did.
How did you choose your appliances?
The appliances were fairly easy to decide on, Neff is something I’ve had previously and I hadn’t had any issue with it and I wanted Neff again so that was my idea. Erin suggested the oven and the microwave, I didn’t want a microwave, I said ‘I’ve got a perfectly good microwave’, she said ‘no, they do these now’, again I listened to her and it’s the best decision that I have is now the microwave oven.
I’d just bought a new washer so I didn’t need a new washer or else I would have had one. The fridge freezer, it was expensive and I’m not saying anything detrimental but it’s just what I wanted. Again she listened and I’ve got one now I can get ice cold water and it makes ice. The freezer is quite small so she suggested again that we got another small freezer because living out in the country, you’ve got to fill them up for winter and you’ve not got access to shops so and the dishwasher I went with what she suggested. Everything is great.
How did the kitchen installation go?
Installation of the kitchen was absolutely fantastic. Everything was taken out on the Monday. The electricians were in, was it Monday afternoon/Tuesday and Wednesday. The plumber was in on the Monday and Tuesday. Then Neil came, oh, the plasterer came who was absolutely brilliant, he had his own mop and bucket, I’ve had plasterers for years, he was the best I’ve had and it was all done by Webbs, they organised everything, everything went to plan, it was wonderful, apart from the fridge freezer, because it was a special one we had to wait for it to come but I didn’t mind that because it was what I wanted.
I must say about the kitchen fitter (Neil), please go to Webbs if you do, absolutely fabulous, I wouldn’t have anybody else now. It went absolutely as I wanted it and all the little nuances when I wanted to make changes they were done without anybody moaning and groaning at me.
I’m going to have a wine cooler put in and they are going to come back and do that for me so yes, 10 out of 10 for that.
What is your favourite part of the kitchen?
If I can pick one favourite part, it is the whole side where I do my work. It was designed differently, before I’ve got so much space now. I’ve got a small kitchen and its been utilised now and designed to the best that it can be. It is great I’ve got lots of room. My daughters have been down, they are absolutely delighted with it because it means two of them can go in. So everything really but the bit is my worksurface and where it is in relation to my cooker.

Webbs, what do you think? They have been professional, really reasonably priced and expertly done. Yes, I would recommend them highly, and I have done.
